Aurora Southeast Recreation Center and Fieldhouse opened in 2022 as Aurora’s newest recreational facility, funded by cannabis tax revenue. Located at 25400 E Alexander Drive, this modern complex provides comprehensive recreational amenities including aquatic facilities, indoor sports courts, fitness equipment, and event spaces that serve families and individuals throughout the community.

Aquatic Facilities

The pool complex features multiple water recreation areas including a lap pool maintained at 86-87 degrees with depths ranging from 3’6″ to 7 feet. Four lanes accommodate serious swimmers, with approximately 36 laps equaling one mile. Dedicated lap swimming periods operate throughout the week with varying schedules.

The leisure pool includes a zero-depth children’s area with fountains, spray features, water dump buckets, and a small slide. An activity area maintains 3’6″ depth, while the lazy river provides relaxing water circulation also at 3’6″ depth.

A 160-foot enclosed water slide serves riders who are 48 inches tall or taller and at least 7 years old, or who can pass a swim test. The slide operates during designated swim times with single riders only.

A 15-person hot tub maintains approximately 104-degree temperature and is restricted to adults 18 and older. The hot tub may close periodically for maintenance requirements.

Fitness Center

The fitness facility features modern equipment including treadmills, Peloton bikes, stair masters, elliptical machines, and comprehensive weight training apparatus. The free weight area includes artificial turf space for deadlifts, medicine ball exercises, and functional training activities.

An elevated figure-8 running track with inclines and declines provides unique cardiovascular exercise opportunities while offering views of surrounding high plains. The multi-level track design creates varied training challenges for walkers and runners.

Indoor Sports Facilities

The fieldhouse accommodates indoor soccer, basketball, volleyball, and other court sports on a full-size field measuring 185 feet by 85 feet with artificial turf. The facility operates on a six-month rolling reservation system with rentals available on first-come, first-served basis.

Basketball and pickleball courts provide additional athletic programming space, though some users note limited court availability due to high demand and frequent youth group usage.

Group Fitness Programming

Aqua fitness classes include River Fitness sessions held in the lazy river focusing on cardiovascular strength training with current resistance. Traditional aqua fitness classes provide challenging aerobic workouts suitable for pre and post-natal participants without swimming requirements.

The center offers various group fitness classes though specific programming details and schedules change regularly based on instructor availability and community demand.

Youth Programming

Youth sports programming includes indoor soccer leagues, flag football, various sports camps through partnerships with organizations like Challenger Sports and SkyHawks. Homeschool physical education programs provide structured athletic activities for home-educated students.

Birthday party packages include room rentals with pool access, though availability is limited to weekends and requires advance booking through the facility’s reservation system.

Event and Meeting Spaces

Community rooms accommodate weddings, corporate meetings, family reunions, and other celebrations. Rooms feature large TVs, sound systems, and technology capabilities for presentations and events. The facility offers both individual room rentals and whole community room space options.

Personal Training Services

Certified personal trainers provide individual and semi-private training sessions with packages ranging from single sessions to six-session bundles. Youth personal training serves participants 17 and younger with specialized programming and pricing.

Operational Considerations

The facility maintains affordable daily admission rates at five dollars, making it accessible for occasional users. Membership options provide additional value for regular users while supporting facility operations and programming expansion.

Pool maintenance requires periodic closures for cleaning and equipment servicing. The facility recommends checking alternate pool locations during scheduled maintenance periods.

Security personnel help maintain safe environments, though some users note challenges with youth supervision and facility rule enforcement during busy periods. The facility continues adjusting policies to balance accessibility with appropriate behavioral expectations.

Aurora Southeast Recreation Center represents significant community investment in modern recreational infrastructure, providing diverse programming opportunities while addressing ongoing operational challenges related to facility management and community usage patterns.
